The first of my follow-up tests is back and is negative (no nasty bacteria), and I'm all healed up, so I am BACK!  And I have been living it up!

I finally got to go back to doggie class with Abby!  It was about 87 million degrees out, so most of doggie class was spent looking for the shade...

We can just stay here in the shade, right?

Yep, I'm a happy girl again!

Smile for the camera, Abby!

Yes, we're paying attention, just not to you, Mom!
This week was even better than usual, because Mom had another holiday weekend.   Thursday the 24th was Pioneer Day, the Utah state holiday, and Mom had Thursday off, and then took Friday off (something about 'missing' the 4th of July weekend because of my surgery...), so we got 4 whole days to spend with Mom!!!  The only downside was that Mom felt the need to dress us up in silly costumes for Pioneer Day.

Abby was less amused about the whole portrait thing than I was!

Neither of us were amused here.  Seriously.  Where did these @#$!@!% hats come from?!?

Yep, I'm rocking the stars and stripes bandana!

"Mom, this is not funny!"
But luckily that madness only lasted one day.  It has been quite hot here (for us) and our tennis ball action has been somewhat limited, so we don't "melt our brains" (so says Mom).  But at least we've been able to get some tennis ball action in.

"Back off, Hippobottomus!  This tennis ball is MINE!"

Stalking the elusive tennis ball!

She may be a Hippobottomus, but she's got athleticism and dexterity when she needs it!

I even got the ear flappage going!

I think she was trying to balance that one on her head!

Nose bounce!

Jaws of Doom!

Abby continues to work on her ballet moves.

If you doubt my enthusiasm for tennis ball action, just look at my face!

Yep, I can walk tall!

More Jaws of Doom!

Abby, doing a fantastic impression of a baby bird!

Oh yeah!

Yep, I'm a happy girl again!

Have a great week!

Happy Pioneer Day!

For those of you non-Utahns, this is just another Thursday.  But for us, it is Pioneer Day!  The state holiday where we celebrate Brigham Young declaring that 'this is the place' and we ignore any pretense of understanding the concept of the separation of church and state.  *ahem*  While Mom is not a native Utahn, and while she has never fully assimilated (if you know what I mean), she is very happy to have another holiday weekend in July!  In spite of our irreverence (which spreads to all things, not just Pioneer Day), we have great respect for the pioneers who crossed the Plains and Rockies with their hand carts, all in search of a place to call home.

Our Mom doesn't have a drop of pioneer blood in her (unless you count that ice storm in North Carolina several years ago where Granny and Grandpa had no power for 87 days - or something like that - and they became 'Pioneer Man' and 'Pioneer Woman' with Grandpa chopping wood for their teeny fireplace and hauling water up from their pond, while Granny had to rely on the basement and the cold temperatures to keep her wine cold!  Heehee.  Just kidding, Granny!  We're certain you were spinning thread out of doodle hair and weaving blankets for warmth!), but Abby and I are certain we are descended from the Wild Goldendoodles who rode in the hand carts. (Walk next to them? Are you kidding me?!?  Even the Wild Goldendoodles Of Old were ornamental doggies with a sense of entitlement.  Pit bulls and other hardy pioneer doggies walked next to the hand carts.  Our ancestors rode.)

Anyhoo, we'd like to give a big shout out to all our Utah buddies, including Bert, Goose, and, of course, our buddies Murphy and Stanley, as well as any other Utah friends we may have missed!

We have been celebrating in grand fashion!  We've also tolerated Mom dressing us up for 'photo ops'.  At least there weren't any cheesy plastic leis involved this time!

Somebody should tell Abby she doesn't have to look like she's posing for a daguerreotype!

How dare you suggest we would have WALKED next to the hand carts?  Do we look like working dogs to you?!?

Pioneers cooked cheeseburgers, didn't they?  We think Pioneer Day should involve a trip to the Magic Cheeseburger Window in honor of our Wild Pioneer Goldendoodle relatives!

Abs, I'm pretty sure the Pioneer Goldendoodles didn't have to put up with these silly hats.... I wonder if these hats taste good....
Heehee!  Happy Pioneer Day!  Or Happy Thursday, if you aren't in Utah!

PeeEss:  We don't mean to offend anyone with any of our comments about Pioneer Day, assimilation or Pioneer Man and Pioneer Woman.  This is all in good fun!

No More Radio Telescope for Me!

On Wednesday, I went back to the vet and was immediately taken into the back room where my stitches were removed, and I was brought back to my Mom, who immediately removed my radio telescope cone!  No more stitches and no more cone for me!!!   Here I am, moments after my cone was removed - yes, I was a very happy camper!

Yay!  Thank you Mom!  Now go burn that thing!
The vet looked me over and declared everything to be 'looking good' and I was free to get back to my regularly scheduled life!  Yay!  I have finished my antibiotics from the surgery, so in a few more days they will check my pee again, and hopefully it will be bacteria free, and I can enjoy a healthy, UTI-free life!  I'll keep you posted on that!

Once the vet gave me the okay for tennis ball action, I was back at it in a flash!

Throw the tennis ball, already!!!  I've been waiting two weeks for this!
Happy tennis ball dance!
Oh yeah!  Just as good as I remember it!

Yup, the brakes still work!
Big stretch!
This is my zombie mode!

My legs haven't lost anything during my two week hiatus!
I really missed all this excitement!
Of course, Abby got in plenty of tennis ball action, too!

And there were many tennis ball zoomies!

I'm going so fast I'm almost a blur!

Throw it again, Mom!

Much ear flappage from Fluffica!
I think Abby has more fun when I'm out with her!
Zoom zoom!
I can rock the ear flappage, too!
Nothing like your ears blowing in the wind!
Yep, I can't get enough of this!
Abby definitely has more fun with me out there!  I think....

It doesn't get better than this!

She may be goofy-looking, but she was the best sister while I was under the weather; she didn't get in my face and she didn't taunt me about my silly cone!    She even gave me all the space I needed on the bed!  I couldn't ask for a better sister!

If you had any doubt about how thrilled I am to be back to normal, this should dispel them!

Yep, I'm a happy, happy girl again!
Thanks for all the kind wishes during my recovery - I am certain they helped me get my okay for tennis ball action as fast as it did!  Now I just have to remind Mom that she missed my birthday (it was July 10th) and I believe a trip to the Magic Cheeseburger Window is in order!

Have a great week!
