So This Happened Today

This afternoon Mom was getting packed for tomorrow's shoot at the animal shelter when Dad called to her that there was a big dog at the back door. Since "big dog" can be code for anything from mooses to, well, canines, Mom came up to see what we were barking at.

Our visitor was, in fact, a big dog.  A handsome Golden Retriever who had gotten lost while hunting deer.  Mom and Dad noticed that he had burrs in his Golden furs, and let him inside.

Hi! I see you have snacks! And toys!

He must have seen one of my open invitations to doggies, moose, deer and other such inhabitants of our neighborhood to drop by for impromptu playdates.

Daisy and I both took to him immediately, and I greeting him with much enthusiastic barking, while Daisy tried to jump up and say 'hi'.  He took it all in stride, and was perfect happy to help relieve us of our snacks and play with our toys.

I see you have snacks up there!

Mom and Dad were able to find his phone number and address on his tags and called his parents, who were very thrilled to hear that Strider was safe.  Apparently Strider and his family are recent transplants from Atlanta, and Strider doesn't really know the neighborhood very well yet.

You can see that he picked up some burrs during his travels.

We all agreed that inspite of his burrs, he was very handsome, well-mannered, and just generally a genial chap.  Of course we shared our snacks with him!

We are glad that we were able to help reunite him with his parents!  But we also hope we see him again (hopefully more planned next time) as he was a great guy to have over for some fun times!

And yes, we love happy endings!
