Finally! An update!

We are alive, despite Mom's complete lack of helping us update the bloggie.  Something about work and some deadline and blah, blah, blah, whatever.  At least her slacking has been in the updating of the bloggie realm, and not in the neglecting the 'doodles realm, so we'll sort of forgive her.

Anyway, what have we been up to?

Mom has been taking us to doggie class every Saturday.  The class members vary from class to class, with holidays and whatnot, but yesterday we had a full complement of doggies.

Mom is still trying to figure out the best setting for the indoor photos - fluorescent lights and big glass windows - so the photo quality isn't always the best...

Doggie class always involves a 'social' time where we all run around like crazy doggies.  Well, the youngsters all run around like crazy doggies.  Being a more mature doggie, I try to stay out of the fray, and let the pups go crazy!

This socializing time also gives Abby a chance to work on her body-checks!

But doggie class is not all fun and body-checking.  We are all trying to work on being a wee bit calmer when encountering other doggies..

Heehee!
C'mon Mom.  Hand over the treats already!
Doggie classes are always fun, and Mom seems to like the added benefit of the class wearing us out.  I have no idea what she means by that!

In other excitement, if you remember Sarge's Nickname Game, when we did the post, we were entered in a drawing for some funballs prizes, and Sarge sent us a pee-mail to let us know we won something!!!  Of course there will be photos when the goodies arrive.  Thanks, Sarge!!!  (And yes, Mom did call me Fi-sters, and Abby was called Abby-Scrabby all week in keeping with the rules of the game!  Thanks to everyone who voted on our nicknames!)

Also, while we are a bit late in posting it, we were able to visit Frankie Furter on Friday and wish him a Happy International Frankie Furter Day!

Finally, we are enjoying the long weekend, although the Weather Gods have been a bit uncooperative...

Don't let that hint of sunrise fool you - the clouds won!

We've had snow flurries, and rain and sleet, and hail, and plagues of locusts.  Not optimal for the unofficial start of summer.  However, for those of you paying attention, this is not as bad as LAST Memorial Day Weekend, where we got MORE snow...  It has been quite cold the last couple of days, which has resulted in much snuggly time with Mom and Dad, so we aren't complaining.

Finally, we hope all of our fellow Americans get the chance to enjoy the holiday tomorrow!  But don't forget to take a moment or two to reflect on the 'some who gave all'  so the rest of us can enjoy the freedoms and liberty that we have.

Sarge's Nickname Game

We're going to play Sarge's nickname game.

We'll try to list just the ones that won't get us banned from the Interwebs permanently.

Fiona: Fi, Fi-sters, Fi-ster-beaster, Fi-Burgers, Fi-Bert, Bert, Fi-Burgundian, Fi the Noisy, Pretty Girl, Hey You, The Good Dog

Abby: Lard-Butt, Lard-Tuchus, Monster-Tuchus, Rat-Butt, Abby-Scrabby, Abs, Abacus, Abba-Scrabba, Abalone, Abalone-Baloney, Baloney, YOUR dog, Wretched Beast, AbbyNO, Rotten Dog, and of course, the Hippobottomus

Then, there are the names that Mom uses for both of us: Fuzzle-face, Sweetums, Schmutzel-face (or in the plural, we are 'Schmutzels'),  Goofadoodle, and Poo-Head (Mom says this has to do with us being half poodle, and NOT anything else...).

Who ya calling 'Fuzzle Face'?

Okay, Abby IS a Goofadoodle

Actually, Mom and Dad use a lot of names for us... I'm NEVER called Fiona (always 'Fi' if not one of my other names), and Abby is called one of a million things - somehow, we seem to know who they are talking about!

Mom would like me to note that some of the less-than-kind names for Abby are meant with love.  Except for when she's being a pain at 10pm, and Mom is trying to go to bed.  Heehee!

Anyhoo!  We'll be back to our regularly scheduled posts this weekend!  Oh, I think as part of the game, please leave comment telling us your favorite nickname.  Thanks!

Quick Update

First, Mom cut the grass for the first time this summer.  While we still have some patches where new grass is still struggling to grow, there were other sections that were threatening to swallow small dogs, so Mom broke out the lawn mower, and we barked our enthusiasm throughout the entire process.  Much to Dad's delight, I might add!

As soon as Mom was done, we went out to inspect her work.

We tested the grass for bitey-face-ability

And then Abby tested it for roll-ability

And she kept testing it

The yard even stood up to Puppy Spaziness

Abby, however, failed the modesty test!  Heehee!

Remember last year when our grass was cut, and Abby took it upon herself to dye herself green? (BTW, she was a shameless hussy last year, too...) Anyhoo, Abby did a very nice job of becoming light green (with darker green spots) again this year.

In the words of Kermit the Frog, "It's not easy being green!"

Heehee!

And in other excitement, last week there was a little Corgi puppy who was trying her best to distract us while we were trying to be good dogs.

Lookit that little suck-up Corgi puppy!

She was pretty cute!

*sheesh*  Talk about a suck up!

And we worked on 'leave it'.  I should say, I worked on 'leave it' while Abby worked on hoarding the dog cookies...

We're off to doggie class again tomorrow - it gives us an hour a week where Mom can ponder why we aren't that good the rest of the week!  Heehee!

An Open Note to Mitch

This is a shout-out to our long-time buddy Mitch, who has just recently become a  Big Brother.  His parents brought home a little sister for him, and I'd like to offer my two cents on the raising of a little sister.

1) Teach her who is boss, and do it early and often!

Showing the munchkin the Jaws of Doom early will help put her in her place.
Seriously, do NOT underestimate the power of the Jaws of Doom

If you remind her when she's young that you are Older and In Charge, even when she gets bigger, you'll keep that psychological advantage!

In those last couple of pictures, Lard Butt out-weighed me by about 10lbs - but I've always had that psychological edge!  Even if she's a bit harder to take down...

2) Wear your sister out - a tired puppy is a Good Puppy.

Heehee.  Little rat couldn't decide between food or a nap, so she chose both!

3) Keep an eye on your little sister - you never know what she's going to get up to if left to her own devices!

I've got my eyes on you, Abby.

4)  Teach her how to share the toys

The more ear-flappage you can create, the better!

5) Teach her early about the Finer Things In Life

Like snow zoomies
Is there any wonder why I call her 'Lard Tuchus'?  Heehee!

And frisbees

6) Remember that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  She's a cracker puppy, but dude, you are COOL, and she wants to be Just Like you.

But, you ARE allowed to make fun of her when she has 'bad face' days.  I mean, what are little sisters for, if you can't post embarrassing photos of them on the internet?

At the end of the day, however, there's nothing better than a little sister!

And when your little sister REALLY starts to get on your nerves, and all the squeeing and oohs and ahhs, and "isn't puppy breath the best" comments get annoying, just remember that you are house-trained and she's not.  And if you forget it, you can rest assured that she'll remind everyone pretty quickly that she hasn't quite learned "OUTSIDE" yet!  Heehee!

Seriously, dude, we love ya, Mitch, and we think you are going to be the best big brother a girl could have!
