A busy weekend!

With a long weekend ahead of her, Mom seemed to be all into 'getting things done'.  She kept saying "Things to do," with an ironic glee.  We have No Idea what she was on about, but apparently our Granny will know Exactly what Mom is talking about.

The first of the Things To Do was *gasp* wash us and give us haircuts.

"Really?  How does any of this seem like a good idea?"

Of course, Little Miss Dorkadoodle was all into this.  Sort of.
Anyway, after a nice sunbake to dry (Mom didn't use the Evil Hair Dryer on us, thank heavens!), Mom got down to the business of haircuts.  For some reason, I went first, and I came out perfectly (well, Mom's still learning this whole grooming thing... so I was mostly perfect... and Mom kept talking about some guy riding by on a fast horse and not noticing anything... I was confused, as we don't have any horses in our neighborhood.  I think Mom is starting to lose it.)

"Why yes, I AM pretty."
Abby was second in line, and was (according to Mom) being "a bit difficult".  So Abby has a hairy chin and looks like she has mange in spots.  Mom is threatening to 'clean Abby up', but so far, Abby has escaped a re-do.

"Yeah, I have a hairy chin.  What of it?  My hairs are mostly short now, so I can bitey longer without getting hot!"
Of course, Abby and I had to test out our new do's.

Yep.  Nekkid bitey-face works just fine.

And, of course, we continued to perfect our frisbee technique.

Taking her cue from Chubby Checker, Abby decided to 'Do the Twist'!

Nice full extension.  She might have even caught the frisbee.

I think Abby actually recovered from this position.

A bit of hang-time.  But she can do better!
But don't think this has turned into the All-Abby Frisbee Show.

Yes, Hippobottomus.  Watch and learn.  Notice how I actually CATCH the frisbee.

And I, too, can fly!

Oh yeah!  Nekkid frisbee zoomies!
Heheh.

You'd think after the trauma of our haircuts, Mom would have spent the rest of the weekend feeding us treats and throwing frisbees on demand in an attempt to earn our forgiveness.

But no.

Apparently she and Dad have started 'bye-sickle-ing' again.  We don't know what this entails, other than them dressing in funny clothes, leaving the house for a while, and returning, often followed by a nap.  While we don't mind the whole nap part of things (we are Very Good nappers), we have No Idea what they do while they are gone.  The following photo purports to be of this 'bye-sickle-ing' but it merely looks like Mom standing around in Day-Glo clothes to us.

At least Mom hasn't totally abandoned us for this so-called activity.  We did get to go on lots of walkies this weekend.

See how streamlined we are with our haircuts?  It makes for Much Faster walkies.

Except when Mom feels the need to stop for more 'photo ops'.

"Why does this sign say 'road closed'?  We just walked down this road.  True, there was a big hole in the middle of the road, but it wasn't totally closed..."
And we observed a moment of silence on Memorial Day for all those who have given their lives in service to our country.

"Thank you for preserving our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of bully sticks."
And here I am, striking a dramatic pose.  (Abby wasn't so keen on the flapping of the flag.)

We hope you all had a great weekend, and a great upcoming week!

And if you want one more view of my more streamlined self, here you go!

"I AM rather striking, if I say so myself!"

A Walkie (and some Frisbee time)

Most of our weekend was rainy and gray, but we were able to drag Mom out for a walkie during a break in the weather.  Mom felt the need to break out the flashie beast for the walkie.  Which meant, of course, we had to stop...

If only Mom could read our minds!

At least Abby and I got in a good chat on the walkie.

Heehee!

And we did get in some frisbee time - even if Mom kept grumbling about 'muddy paws'.

"Hey Abby!  Behind you!"

"Nice full-body extension!"

Note the use of the tail as stabilizer.

Is it me, or does Abby look like a goofy puppy here?

On the other hand, I look like a respectable doggie!

"Mom, don't blame the breeze for your bad throws!"

Goofy puppy.

Full body extension with a half-twist!

Still a goofy puppy.

"Come on Abs!  Bounce it off your nose like a trained seal!"

Did I mention that Abby is a goofy puppy?  Heehee.
Our weather has been a little crazy; it was super warm earlier in the week, now it's all cold and damp.  However, that hasn't stopped Mom from using the "H word".

Seriously.  Do I look like I need a haircut?

Yeah, I don't think so, either!

Springtime = Frisbee Time

Actually, the last few days have been feeling a bit more like summer than spring, but that's okay.  Warm sunny days mean more frisbee time for us!

Abby, of course, had to get in some wild contortions.  Because she's a wild contortionist.

"Widen your hands bit more - you might catch it that way!"

"Nice trap with the arms!"

"Really?  All that leaping and you STILL didn't catch the frisbee?"

"Nice extension!"

"Another nice extension!"

Abby attempting to be a two-legger.

"Focus.  Focus.  Focus..."

"Half-pike with a three-quarters twist."

"Way to bounce the frisbee off the nose!"

Abby wouldn't want me to tell you this, but she may or may not have lost her balance after this move.  I'm not at liberty to divulge the specifics of this particular maneuver.
Heehee!

Oh, and, and before we forget, we want to wish our Mom a Happy Mother's Day!  Not only is she an awesome frisbee thrower...

Abby's catch is no reflection on Mom's throwing abilities!
And she takes awesomely loving photos of us.

AND, Mom sacrified her Saturday (yesterday, all day - she left the house at 8am and didn't get home until 6pm!) to learn what is involved in getting her and Abby certified as a therapy team.

Mom has to read this big notebook full of stuff.  Apparently there will be a test.

If Mom and Abby become certifiable, uh, certified, then they can go off to visit people in hospitals or nursing homes, or whatever.  There's a lot of work involved to get certified, so I have a feel Abby is going to be going to a lot of extra doggie classes, while I get to spend quality time with Dad!

Anyway, we want to wish our Mom, our grandmothers, and all the moms (doggie moms, moms of other furry critters, moms of humans, moms in spirit only - ALL moms) a Happy Mother's Day!
