Sometimes I am so clever I scare myself!

Mom is STILL busy with this packing stuff. She had this big day planned of going to the House With Wheels and “identifying” the stuff that has to come out of the House With Wheels (stuff that we might need over the winter), figuring out what we need in the House With Wheels while we are down in the south, and what stuff can stay down there, and what stuff has to come back with us when it’s Mom and Dad and TaiChi and me and Bufus in the car. Which means that she’s not going to be able to bring a lot of stuff home. Unless she locates a UPS store. Or thinks that we (meaning TaiChi and Bufus and I) are going to handle a 4 hour drive with the car stuffed to the gills. Lemme just tell ya right now – that isn’t going to work! I need room to get comfy, and Mr. Bufus needs his big crate, and TaiChi, well… I’m actually not sure how she’s going to travel in the car…. Mom may have to get another crate for her…

So, Mom had this great day planned of organizing, and going grocery shopping, and doing stuff at the House With Wheels. And frankly, I didn’t really like her plans. I mean, I like hanging out with Dad, but I don’t like Mom “being busy” for such long periods of time. It interferes with my zoomie time and my ear-scratchy time, and the time where I’m in the backyard humoring Mom by pretending to get all excited about her horrible throws with my Kong toy. So, to paraphrase Johnny Cash, I devised myself a plan that would be the envy of most any dog. I snagged Dad’s phone, and monitored Mom’s progress by reading the text messages she was sending him with updates on her travels. And right after she had left Petco (and you questioned whether I was really paying attention or not!) and had entered the grocery store, I threw up all over the bed. Both blankets, the sheets and even a little bit on one of the pillows. I knew that this would result in Mom having to come home and spend the afternoon washing blankets with me.

Clever, no?

To make sure that I spewed on schedule, when Dad was upstairs doing stuff with his guitars, I took the opportunity to sneak upstairs and eat cat food. And it worked like a charm!

Right after I threw up, Dad called Mom and she cut her shopping trip short so she could come home and wash blankets. (And really, they probably needed to be washed anyway…)

See, I am not as dumb as I look. Even with this silly “streamlined” jar head hair cut I’ve got. True, Mom spent a lot of time in the kitchen and laundry room doing laundry, and other “organizing” stuff, but at least she was home. AND, if you notice, I nabbed her after she had gone to Petco, so I was rewarded with a Snugga Wubba. That didn’t last too long. I don’t know what it is with these Wubba, but I love ‘em so much that they seem to have a short life span. In this case, so short that Mom didn’t even get pictures of me with it. Although, Mom performed some surgery, and I have a slightly shortened Wubba to play with. But I’m tired now.

But, I did get to spend some quality time with my Little Big Sister, TaiChi. She is really The Best Sleeping Partner EVER!

And…. Even though I don’t like things on my head? I got to wear Dad’s hat. I generally don’t like things on my head, but since this smelled like Dad, and I’ve seen him wear it, it was all OK.

See how I cleverly forced Mom home to hang out with me?!?

And besides, I looked all hip!

Yo!

Another busy day!

Another day where Mom has to type fast so we can get everything in!

First, we had a very slow morning; Mom didn't sleep very well, so after we got up and went outside (and decided that it was cold and windy), we got back in bed and snoozled (which is sort of like sleeping, and snoring (mostly TaiChi on that front) and snoodling (which is a poodle thing) all wrapped in to one - it's very warm and snuggy when we all snoozle together) for a while. Then after a while of snoozling, Mom got up and did 'stuff' around the house. And then she decided to start another dog-related cross-stitch pattern while she is washing/drying the big Gypsy Wagon (which will heretofore be referred to as The Cross Stitch House With Wheels). And she did that for a while, and more 'stuff'.

Then we did a ROTE. This time we just had to go to the pharmacy (at the grocery store), but I got into the Box With Wheels (aka the Jeep), and we went down to the store. I guarded the Box With Wheels while Mom went inside. (She promised she would be quick.) And quick she was! She came back with a little bag of stuff and a Nylabone for me. A big, giant Nylabone! But in truth, I wasn't all that interested on the drive home. Because, let's face it. Mom is a newer driver, and you know that you always have to pay attention with newer drivers, so I helped her by keeping an eye on the road for her, while also making sure that she used her turn signals and didn't talk on the phone. And, of course, I behaved Very Well so she wouldn't be distracted.

But when we got home? I was All. Over. the Nylabone!

And then?

And then, we we got home, Mom decided that the weather was good enough for us to go on a hike. Since she (finally) bought some cold-weather clothes (a couple more hats, some gloves, some warm tights, etc.), she bundled up against the wind and the cold, and off we went. Yay, Mom!

It was muddy, and Really Fun!

And there were lots of leaves to go tromping through!

So it was a great hike!!!

And. AND!!! While we were on the hike, Mom and I were talking (like we usually do when we hike), Mom told me that we were going to go back in the House With Wheels this weekend. It's just for Saturday night, and we are just going to Miller Motorsports Park, because Mom and Dad have a car race on Sunday, and they want us with them (how could they not?!?). So, House With Wheels and The Big Yellow Car!!! I can't wait!!!

Then the final excitement of the day? When we got back from the ROTE, Mom got the mail.

And in the mail? Mom had ordered a couple of baseball hats from the Irish Guide Dogs store. We found this via Clive, who is a very handsome goldendoodle, who works for a living, for his Not-So-Little-Man. I think he did some calendar work for them, but Mom and Dad (and I) are more baseball cap kind of people. Whaddya think?!?

Yo! (heehee!)

Pretty cool hat, huh?!?

Beauty Tips

Finally – an award that I got that Mom has time to post! This is from my very handsome, well-travelled, adventurous, and athletic friend Dennis the Vizsla

Now apparently I am supposed to share 7 beauty tips, and then pass the award along to 7 other people who will share 7 beauty tips, and then pass it along to 7 more people. According to Dennis (who is the Font of All Knowledge That is Not Possessed By Mango The Relentlessly Huge and Wise) this will result in as many beauty tips as you might find in Dog Fancy, or Cosmo, or something. I don’t read either of those, so I’m not entirely sure what he’s talking about. I read Dogmobile and Driver, and Grassroots Motorsports for Dogs, and most of the beauty tips there are related to how you get grease out from under your toenails, and how to comb out one’s ears after a high-speed head-out-the-window ride. But I digress.

In all fairness, I think that all of my family should get a chance to share their beauty tips, so we’re going to split them up.

Fiona’s Beauty Tips

1. Keep those pearly whites pearly white. I don’t like having my teeth brushed, so Mom feeds me ‘dental care’ food. Seems to work.

2. Regular exercise to maintain your girlish figure.

3. Just the RIGHT amount of eye shadow and mascara. I’ve found that permanent make-up works best for me – it doesn’t come off during strenuous exercise, and I don’t have to spend hours in front of the mirror getting it Just Right.

TaiChi’s Beauty Tips

4. LOTS of beauty sleep. You can never get enough beauty sleep.

5. Find a good beauty parlor.

5a. Preferably one that does nails. (Trying to match Mom’s nails is an added plus.)

Bufus’ Beauty Tips

6. Regular hair cuts to show off your solid, sleek frame.

7. A really cool hat can give you a jaunty, devil-may-care look.

8. Okay, so it's one extra - TaiChi and Fiona got 3.... Shower regularly.

And the seven people I've tagged? Here they are (and forgive me if you've already done this....my secretary doesn't keep very good records....)

1.Subi

2.Hero

3.Dozer and Coop

4.The 4 B's

5.Sierra Rose

6.The Clampets

7.Mason Dixie

Happy Beautification!
