Doesn't she look all mature-like?
Well, okay, maybe not so much, as that was taken yesterday, and I'm sure she TOTALLY matured overnight. Or possibly not. Mom keeps saying something about "being a puppy forever".... Regardless (or irregardless, if you prefer, which Mom does when she's being a smart-aleck), I have No Doubt the weekend will be filled with cake, trips to the Magic Cheeseburger Window and much frivolity.
But to explore that 'puppy forever' thought, here are some pictures of Abby (and me) when Abby newly minted.
Even here she was giving me attitude. I could have eaten her in two bites at this point, and she was all "Yuh. Whatever."
Here is Abby with TaiChi the Venerable. TaiChi couldn't have been more than about 14lbs (if that) and Abby was tiny next to her! I can't believe this is actually Abby, but Mom assures me it was.
We call this "Mom's Big Mistake". Very cute to have a puppy sleep on your pillow when she's 8lbs (and in a diaper for protection), but a tad more cumbersome when Lardbutt is 75lbs. I don't think Mom will make that mistake again!
When Abby first arrived, I had to keep the girl in her place...
Unfortunately, Abby wasn't really impressed by my attempts to show her who was boss...
Eeesh. Jaws of Doom at 8 weeks.
Oh, and if you were wondering, the springs in her leggies were there from the very start....
That's just unnatural. I think Mom and Dad got a kangaroo rather than a puppy....
But on the plus side, Abby has always liked snow (not that she had much of a choice....)
Even as a puppy she tried to take up as much space as possible when sleeping....
And I suppose she was kinda cute (why else would Mom and Dad have kept her?!?)...
So, Happy Birthday, Abby. And I'm really glad it's you and not me who has to wear the Dreaded Birthday Hat!
