Happy Birthday to Abby

It's official; Abby is 5 years old today.  Seriously.

Doesn't she look all mature-like?

Well, okay, maybe not so much, as that was taken yesterday, and I'm sure she TOTALLY matured overnight.  Or possibly not.  Mom keeps saying something about "being a puppy forever".... Regardless (or irregardless, if you prefer, which Mom does when she's being a smart-aleck), I have No Doubt the weekend will be filled with cake, trips to the Magic Cheeseburger Window and much frivolity.

But to explore that 'puppy forever' thought, here are some pictures of Abby (and me) when Abby newly minted.

Even here she was giving me attitude.  I could have eaten her in two bites at this point, and she was all "Yuh.  Whatever."
Believe it or not, Abby was once SMALL!

Here is Abby with TaiChi the Venerable.  TaiChi couldn't have been more than about 14lbs (if that) and Abby was tiny next to her!  I can't believe this is actually Abby, but Mom assures me it was.

We call this "Mom's Big Mistake".  Very cute to have a puppy sleep on your pillow when she's 8lbs (and in a diaper for protection), but a tad more cumbersome when Lardbutt is 75lbs.  I don't think Mom will make that mistake again!
When Abby first arrived, I had to keep the girl in her place...

Unfortunately, Abby wasn't really impressed by my attempts to show her who was boss...
Eeesh.  Jaws of Doom at 8 weeks.
But from the very start, Abby was was good for tug-of-war.

Oh, and if you were wondering, the springs in her leggies were there from the very start....

That's just unnatural.  I think Mom and Dad got a kangaroo rather than a puppy....
But on the plus side, Abby has always liked snow (not that she had much of a choice....)

Even as a puppy she tried to take up as much space as possible when sleeping....

And I suppose she was kinda cute (why else would Mom and Dad have kept her?!?)...

So, Happy Birthday, Abby.  And I'm really glad it's you and not me who has to wear the Dreaded Birthday Hat!

Technically it still IS Fall....

Our weather has been extremely unseasonably warm, and while Mom and Dad are grumbling that they will never get out cross-country skiing, we are enjoying the weather to get in some quality frisbee time.

You can see that our snow is rapidly receding.... *sigh*

So many frisbees, so little time!

We have done much testing of the Doodle Launcher...

I give Abby points for style, but I think there will be some deductions for missing the frisbee...

Yep, Mom has been playing around with her Lightroom presets again....

Abby is not the only one with springs in her leggies!

Although Abby does have very impressive springs in her leggies!

And people wonder why I call her a 'Dorkadoodle'

Of course, Abby had a few moments that left me speechless (and moving fast on my feeties!)

What are you doing?!?

To quote Monty Python, "Run away!"
Heheh.

And speaking of running, there were may frisbee zoomies this week...

Being good doggies (hey, we know Santa is watching), we spent some time posing for Mom.

Obviously, Mom was having more fun with 'presets'.

We also spent plenty of time hanging out in the yard.

Abby, doing her thing in the snow....

Tug of war NEVER gets old!

Seriously, tug of war NEVER gets old!

One of my many glamour shots!
This is MY frisbee!

I think Abby is taunting me with her frisbee collection.  Don't worry - I always get my frisbees in the end!
We also took a few moments today to remember the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.   Our Granny is famous for making pretty much every moment a "teaching moment", and there is no way our Mom could forget such a devastatingly important day in US history.

Have a great week!  And for those of you without a score card, Abby turns 5 (!!!) next week.  I expect there will be cake, a trip to the Magic Cheeseburger Window and the wearing of the silly birthday hat by Abby.  I can't believe my little sister will be 5 years old!  *ahem*
