Back to Doggie Class!

Back to our irregularly scheduled posts!  (Grandpa would probably say, "They're not irregularly scheduled, they are just unscheduled and sporadic."  But our Grandpa is a bit of a 'concrete-sequential' thinker, while we tend to be more in the 'abstract-random' realm.  And Mom is split between between 'Abstract Sequential' and 'Abstract Random'.  Which means she can Think Deep Thoughts and still somehow communicate them to others.  I guess that's why she's an academic type, huh?  Kind of a fun test, actually, if you like that kind of stuff.)   Mom was 'Busy Doing Stuff' last weekend, so Abby and I went to daycare, and there were no funballs photos for us to post.

However, this weekend, Mom PROMISED that we could go to doggie class, so we headed off to Petco, to get in some edjumacation.  And since it was about eleventy-billion degrees out, class was held inside (in the newly remodeled and expanded Petco - complete with ferrets for us to bark at...). We suggested a squirrel cage to provide some indoor amusement, but apparently the Petco management didn't like our suggestion - no doubt worried that the tree rats would break into the bird seed stocks!   They did, however, have a cage of kids, which was pretty cool!

Mom, we think they should fence kids in all the time!
Heehee.

Today's doggie class included a girl named Mesa who was still working on her socialization skills.   We spent a lot of time 'sharing' - which mean lots of time with us in the 'down' position and getting fed treats (the idea was for Mesa to see that there were plenty of treats to go around, and she'd get rewarded for waiting for her treat - it worked really well, and we ALL got lots of treats).

Jessi, you need a third arm!

Seriously, we got a lot of treats.  And that's the whole point of doggie class, right?!?

We could do this ALL DAY.

Yep.  This doggie class stuff is AWESOME!  (And dried lamb lung?  Best. Treat. Ever.  Even better than Vienna sausages.  Just saying...)

And, of course, Abby posed for a few more Silly Photos for Garth's Silly Photo Contest.   If you haven't entered Garth's contest yet, go over and check it out.  There are some totally awesome prizes, and what is more fun that Silly Photos?

No Idea what she was looking for there.   Squirrels?  Lost children?  Who knows what goes on in that brain of hers...

Seriously, that girl has a few screws loose.

Me?  I'm just pretty!

After doggie class, we got to stop by the Magic Cheeseburger Window!  It wasn't even my birthday (which is July 10th, just in case you were wondering), or anything!

10 plain cheeseburgers, please.  Just charge the lady driving the car. Thanks!
Heehee!

Tomorrow, even though it is supposed to be about a million degrees, I think Abby and I will do some training for the Blogville Olympics.   We're totally entering the Discus (frisbee) competition, and probably the Freestyle Zoomies competition, too!

We'll keep you posted!

Another update!

Hiya!  Yes, I have managed to convince Mom to update our bloggie again!

What have we been up to?

Well, pretty much more of the same, but no big excitement can be a good thing!  *grin*

Mom and Dad have been doing a good job with our lawn; Mom is watering it and is losing the battle against the weeds, erm, battling the dandelions, while Dad has been dutifully mowing the grass so we don't get lost in in the weeds.  And what is more fun than biteying one's sister in freshly mowed grass?

Abby has no bones in her body...

Not much.  I mean, we could do this All. Day.  Long.

And, of course, Abby has to roll in the grass.  (Although she's not turning green because Dad cuts the grass while we are at doggie class, so she doesn't get the chance to roll moments after the grass has been cut - which is when she turns green...)

I mentioned she's made of rubber, right?  Heehee!
Of course, we've also been able to get in some Quality Frisbee Time.

Mom says she's seen this picture before. I have no idea what she's talking about!

I got it!

It's a bird!  It's a plane!  It's Super Abby!

Heehee.  She didn't catch it here.  But she got great air!

Got it again!
I should mention that the frisbee 'action photos' aren't always of the best quality because Mom is trying to throw the frisbee with her left hand while quickly snapping a photo with her right.  So we're impressed that she gets ANY action photos!

In addition to all our frolicking in the yard, we went to our usual Saturday doggie class.  This week the store was doing it's big 're-opening' so there was all sorts of chaos with an adoption event, and give-aways, and we were trying to impress Jessi's boss' boss  (Jessi is the Turkey Hotdog Lady, who teaches Mom how to feed us turkey hotdogs) with our Most Excellent Behavior.  (Mom got no photos of this because she was too busy to try get us to pretend to be well-behaved dogs!)

However, we also had lots of zoomie times with out buddies Forrest and Jenny.

There was also some time spent on Things To Wear Out Your Dog When You Are Tired.   Much of these things seemed to involve plastic containers with holes in them and treats inside.  Abby and I were not totally sold on the whole concept.

You want me to do what to get treats?  This seems like a lot of work...

Jenny, however, thought these were The Coolest Things Ever.

I, however, was rather taken with a 'ball' that had lots of holes with treats stuffed inside.  Since the treats are bigger than the holes, it takes a little work to get them out, but it was pretty nifty.  (Yes, Mom bought us one...)

We also spent some time do the appropriate suck-up-for-treats behavior.  Heehee!

We KNOW you've got something good in that hip-pouch!

Abby will suck up to anyone for goodies!

Hi.  I'm Fiona.  Do you have any treats?
Heehee!

Good times as always!

Finally! An update!

We are alive, despite Mom's complete lack of helping us update the bloggie.  Something about work and some deadline and blah, blah, blah, whatever.  At least her slacking has been in the updating of the bloggie realm, and not in the neglecting the 'doodles realm, so we'll sort of forgive her.

Anyway, what have we been up to?

Mom has been taking us to doggie class every Saturday.  The class members vary from class to class, with holidays and whatnot, but yesterday we had a full complement of doggies.

Mom is still trying to figure out the best setting for the indoor photos - fluorescent lights and big glass windows - so the photo quality isn't always the best...

Doggie class always involves a 'social' time where we all run around like crazy doggies.  Well, the youngsters all run around like crazy doggies.  Being a more mature doggie, I try to stay out of the fray, and let the pups go crazy!

This socializing time also gives Abby a chance to work on her body-checks!

But doggie class is not all fun and body-checking.  We are all trying to work on being a wee bit calmer when encountering other doggies..

Heehee!
C'mon Mom.  Hand over the treats already!
Doggie classes are always fun, and Mom seems to like the added benefit of the class wearing us out.  I have no idea what she means by that!

In other excitement, if you remember Sarge's Nickname Game, when we did the post, we were entered in a drawing for some funballs prizes, and Sarge sent us a pee-mail to let us know we won something!!!  Of course there will be photos when the goodies arrive.  Thanks, Sarge!!!  (And yes, Mom did call me Fi-sters, and Abby was called Abby-Scrabby all week in keeping with the rules of the game!  Thanks to everyone who voted on our nicknames!)

Also, while we are a bit late in posting it, we were able to visit Frankie Furter on Friday and wish him a Happy International Frankie Furter Day!

Finally, we are enjoying the long weekend, although the Weather Gods have been a bit uncooperative...

Don't let that hint of sunrise fool you - the clouds won!

We've had snow flurries, and rain and sleet, and hail, and plagues of locusts.  Not optimal for the unofficial start of summer.  However, for those of you paying attention, this is not as bad as LAST Memorial Day Weekend, where we got MORE snow...  It has been quite cold the last couple of days, which has resulted in much snuggly time with Mom and Dad, so we aren't complaining.

Finally, we hope all of our fellow Americans get the chance to enjoy the holiday tomorrow!  But don't forget to take a moment or two to reflect on the 'some who gave all'  so the rest of us can enjoy the freedoms and liberty that we have.

Quick Update

First, Mom cut the grass for the first time this summer.  While we still have some patches where new grass is still struggling to grow, there were other sections that were threatening to swallow small dogs, so Mom broke out the lawn mower, and we barked our enthusiasm throughout the entire process.  Much to Dad's delight, I might add!

As soon as Mom was done, we went out to inspect her work.

We tested the grass for bitey-face-ability

And then Abby tested it for roll-ability

And she kept testing it

The yard even stood up to Puppy Spaziness

Abby, however, failed the modesty test!  Heehee!

Remember last year when our grass was cut, and Abby took it upon herself to dye herself green? (BTW, she was a shameless hussy last year, too...) Anyhoo, Abby did a very nice job of becoming light green (with darker green spots) again this year.

In the words of Kermit the Frog, "It's not easy being green!"

Heehee!

And in other excitement, last week there was a little Corgi puppy who was trying her best to distract us while we were trying to be good dogs.

Lookit that little suck-up Corgi puppy!

She was pretty cute!

*sheesh*  Talk about a suck up!

And we worked on 'leave it'.  I should say, I worked on 'leave it' while Abby worked on hoarding the dog cookies...

We're off to doggie class again tomorrow - it gives us an hour a week where Mom can ponder why we aren't that good the rest of the week!  Heehee!
