Hiking with Lucy

So, yeah. Lucy's this little puppy thing, and only yesterday she made her first trips around the block...

She actually made the trip 3 times, so today Mom and Dad decided that she was ready for a hike. (The vet said it was okay, although Mom and Dad shouldn't expect her to go very far.)  So, we went hiking.

This is actually at the top of the access trail, but you get the idea!
Lucy has been known to just lay down in the middle of a walk, and it was no great surprise when she decided to "take a break".

Needless to say, I found it all rather amusing!
Mom and Dad were prepared for this, and since Dad didn't want to do this for the whole hike:

He was prepared with his Puppy Sack.  (I think it is actually called a K9 Sport Sack, but it is also a puppy containment device...)

Mom was walking Daisy, as Lucy likes Daisy, and wants to follow her, so before the Puppy Sack was put into action, there was a lot of this:

So, Lucy is now officially a hiker - and we can sort of get back to our regularly scheduled hikes. AND, now Lucy is sacked out (some pun intended!) - and as we all know, a tired puppy is a good puppy!

Stay tuned for more adventures!

Family Photos

You knew this was coming....

Lucy's two month photo...

Mom would like everyone to know that there was NO head-swapping in photoshop with this photo - this is all as we are!
And Mom got this idea from one of the people she knows at the animal shelter. So, be prepared for updates on Lucy-fur's "milestones"!

And, for those of you who were curious, here is Lucy in her crate, with her "long-distance duck" for her Granny and Grandpa. (If you are not a fan of the old British comedy "'Allo Allo", it will take too long to explain the long-distance duck reference...)

No idea why she likes smooshing herself up against the side of the crate...
BTW, Lucy actually walked all the way around the block today (this is a first for her), so expect some walking photos soon!

Yet More of a Girl and Her Tennis Ball

Lucy is well on her way to becoming a Tennis Ball Hound. (Although Mom saw some evidence tonight that she's also on her way to becoming a frisbee hound...)  It's actually pretty impressive, given that her head is only slightly larger than the tennis ball... For the record, she's not actually catching the tennis ball yet, but, again, there's that whole head-to-tennis ball ratio thing...

Mighty Puppy Jaws of Doom!

She takes her tennis ball carrying quite serious!

She also carries leaves.

Note the size of the tennis ball and the size of her head...

I am still remaining politely aloof. I mean, how do I know that this wee little ball of fluff isn't going to sneak up on me and steal my tail feathers?!?

No puppies in sight!
Daisy, on the other hand, continues to be a member of the Mutual Admiration Society.... (Which is a good thing, since Lucy is really Daisy's puppy...)

This is awfully brave of Daisy. Of course, it's brave of Lucy, too, as Daisy is crazy....
Needless to say, I'll keep you posted on the adventures here!

A Girl and Her Ball

Quite possibly the cutest thing you will see today!

Even I, Fiona, will admit that this is pretty darn cute!

She's Heee-re...

So, Mom and Dad took Daisy and me on a long drive this afternoon.  We ended up at the place where Daisy and Abby and I all came from! I was hoping that Mom and Dad were planning on taking Daisy back, but apparently that was not the plan. We were here to pick up Lucy-fur, my littlest sister!  Actually, I have to admit to having some trepidation about the arrival of Lucy-fur. I mean, she is puppy #3 for me, and while Abby was fine (I was much younger then, and Abby was my biological sister from a different litter), Daisy was a little much for me, and so I really wasn't sure about getting Yet Another Puppy.

And you will notice that I am not in any of the photos - I am waiting to see what this little monster does before I pass judgement. Daisy, however, is absolutely captivated with her biological sister (Lucy and Daisy have the same parents - which is another reason for my trepidation) and Lucy is equally intrigued by Daisy. So I will let the Mutual Admiration Society admire each other while I stay out of the way and hopefully keep all of my tail-feather intact.

In the meantime, here is Lucy-fur!

She looks like a Tribble! Of course, that might have something to do with Mom having to mow the grass...
As I mentioned, Daisy is fascinated with Lucy...

Daisy really doesn't know what to make of her!

But, Lucy is equally fascinated with Daisy...

I'm not sure if this is sass, or the first attempt at kissey face!

Studying the fine art of roaching...
And I think as soon as she's a little better, Lucy will be a great playmate for Daisy...

Notice that I am staying at a safe distance!

Lucy seems to think that the best offense is a good defense. Or something....

Did I mention that Daisy is fascinated with Lucy?

And a little confused, too!
Anyway, I will be the one sitting on my tuffet (if I can ever figure out what a tuffet is) while the two youngsters do crazy puppy things!  And yes, Mom will be snapping photos like mad! Stay tuned!

A few photos

Mom has been busy with work and the animal shelter, and other photography stuff, so here's a few photos from this last week. It's a lot more of the same.

Me trying to fend off this black demon dog....

Little demon dog continued to not catch tennis balls...

Wait for it...

Yeah, not so much...
I looked beautiful (as usual...)

And I showed Daisy-cakes how real dogs deal with tennis balls...

Daisy assured me that she could pose with a frisbee...

I commented that she does well once she picks up the tennis ball/frisbee...

Look Ma! I'm flying!
Daisy also showed me what puppies do on a freshly mowed lawn...

Yeah, I don't know about this part...
And, of course, Mom got a few photos of Lucy-fur....

Lucy-fur officially joins us on Sunday, so stay tuned to photos of me hiding in the closet, trying to save myself from the Puppy Invasion!
